Sonnet 10
By dewdrop gray and blue and misty white
Do shining stars retire for sweet repose
As falt’ring darkness daybreak overthrows
And casts into decay with fading night
The tangy sunrise tickles at my sight
A tangerine palette that humbly shows
The crooked shadows traced by soft’ning glows
Exposing shapes of trees by morning light
In fullest daylight they will be reveal’d
These purest agents of organic growth
Enduring ev’ry circumstance they’re in
Assigning meaning to the darkness seal’d
A dawning on the mind and body both
That we might too our inner growth begin
